KRYPTEN presents security solutions at Photonics-2022

Apr 08, 2022.

Head of Holographic Laboratory of the enterprise Andrey Smirnov made a presentation at the section "Holographic technologies", which was held alongside the exhibition. In the presentation, he demonstrated models of the use of computer-generated Fourier holograms in security printing.

KRYPTEN specialists together with experts form the Bauman Moscow State Technical University have developed three models for using printed computer-generated Fourier holograms as security elements for various products: documents, goods, packaging. The models include identification, data recovery and verification of a security feature using a smartphone or a special device.

Model 1. Printed computer-generated Fourier hologram. It is presented in the form of a combined security label with a permanent holographic and a personalized printed parts. Such a label can be applied to the product or packaging for labeling products as an alternative to existing labels with a QR code or DataMatrix. Compared to the QR code and DataMatrix, a printed computer-generated hologram has important advantages. The capacity of such a tag is at least 4 times higher than DataMatrix and 9 times higher than a QR code. In addition, a printed computer-generated Fourier hologram is much more resistant to abrasion, which makes it possible to read encoded information with the loss of up to 70% of the label area.

Model 2. Microcomputer-generated Fourier hologram. This model implements a computer-generated Fourier hologram as a micro-hologram (150 x 200 microns), which is recorded on a photopolymer material in the process of holograms recording. Each subsequent hologram carries a unique hologram (data page), which is then read using a specialized device or smartphone with a special optical lens.

The model is designed for use in B2G market, for example, for additional protection of plastic identification documents. The information capacity of such a hologram is 76 bytes, which allows you to encode the user's personal data: surname, first name, patronymic.

Model 3. A visual feature with a computer-synthesized Fourier hologram. It is presented in the form of a smart tag, which is restored optically, and is used in conjunction with a rainbow hologram. Unlike the first two models, the smart tag does not carry a personalized, but a common feature for the entire series of holograms. Such smart tags are suitable for use on security labels, where a simple verification of the authenticity of the goods and the manufacturer is sufficient. The user can quickly read the security smart tag using his smartphone with a special application installed and determine whether the hologram is original or fake.
